چکیده

Odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is one of the most aggressive odontogenic cysts owing to its relatively high recurrence rate and its tendency to invade adjacent tissue. Radiographically odontogenic keratocyst can be of different types – follicular, envelopmental, replacemental, extraneous and collateral. The biological behaviour, prognosis, recurrence and therapeutic approaches vary in different studies. Further research is necessary in order to establish relationship between markers of proliferation and aggressiveness with regard to the radiographic varieties in OKC. The present article reports 2 cases of follicular odontogenic keratocyst that was submitted to our department with the provisional diagnosis of dentigerous cyst. AOSR 2011;1(2):100-103.

Expression of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor by Odontogenic Cysts: A comparative Study of Dentigerous Cyst and Odontogenic Keratocyst

Abstract: Background and Aim: Compare with Dentigerous cyst, Odontogenic Keratocyst is one of exclusive developmental cyst with unique clinical and histopathologic features. Considering the determining role of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in cell proliferation and survival, and the controversial results of previous studies regarding the expression of this marker by the odontogenic cy...

تعیین افزایش بیان Her2/neu در سیست‌های ادونتوژنیک

Background & Aims: Odontogenic cysts are derived from odontogenic epithelium and lined by odontogenic epithelium .All three odontogenic cysts (Dentigerous cyst,Odontogenic keratocyst cyst and Radicular cyst)can develop tumoral transformation .The least tumoral transformation rate is related to OKC.Epithelial cell proliferation rate is important in the prognosis .The best marker is HER2/neu. Angiogenesis: A Critical Role in Locally Aggressive Behavior of Keratocystic Odontogenic Tumor

Introduction: Odontogenic cysts are osteodestructive lesions affecting the jaws. Odontogenic keratocyst is an odontogenic cyst with highly aggressive features. Multicystic ameloblastoma is a benign epithelial odontogenic tumor with more aggressive behavior than dentigerous cyst and odontogenic keratocyst. Invasion and metastasis of tumors require increased blood vessels during tumorigenesis. Th...

Quantitation of lactoferrin in odontogenic cyst fluids.

A competitive enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method was used to measure the concentration of lactoferrin in fluids from 36 odontogenic keratocysts, 15 dentigerous cysts, and 30 radicular/residual cysts. Keratocyst fluids contained significantly higher concentrations of lactoferrin than fluids from the other two types of cyst (p less than 0.001); but the range of values obtained withi...
